Train Wreck

We've been staying cool in our 80-90 degree weather by going to Seattle's wading pools and "beaches". It's been great, the boys love the water and the rocks on the beach. It was when we went to Alki and I was digging in the sand with my boys, when I was blinded by the sun reflecting off of so many scantily clad bodies that I realized how in denial the general population is. Or maybe it's just high self-esteem. I've never seen so many people in skimpy bathing suits who shouldn't be in skimpy bathing suits! At children's wading pools! I just have to ask, if 65% of Americans are overweight, why do 90+% of the women wear bikinis? They can't all have the same bad mirror, they can't all have the same friends lying to them...it must be really high self-esteem! I am not trying to be mean-spirited but I really believe that only about 3% of the population actually look GOOD in a bikini, and they are either in Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition, or playing beach volleyball. The rest of us need extra fabric. (especially with small children around!) And I can't stop staring at them in disbelief!

we were just talking about this the other day how UNBELIEVABLE it is the way that people dress in warm weather!!! all of a sudden, it doesn't matter how many hundreds of pounds you have to lose, or how much cottage cheese you have, anything goes. i don't think that you are being mean-spirited.

it just blows me away that people are confident (blind) enough to dress like that while the rest of us poor girls first of all have to wear a million layers and then still obsess over the last few pounds left over from babies.

amen sister!!!!!!!! this is why i always wanted to be the fashion police... to bust those people who wear spandex when they CLEARLY shouldn't (and i'm including myself in that bunch)... another thought, why do 99% of brides opt for sleeveless gown when only, as you mentioned, the sports illustrated babes and the volleyball hotties could pull it off!??!?!?!?!

Maybe no one should be wearing bikinis???

I'd say ok to no one wearing bikinis, especially since having kids, I'm more aware of how slutty everyone looks.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I wear my bikini to every major event in the summer... ESPECIALLY now that I'm pregnant.
